I have an msi laptop. the webcam is integrated. I made the mistake of disabling it. now, i can see it in the device manager, but it won't let me enable it.
This is one of the errors under general tab: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)
To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."
Under events it says this "Device USB\VID_04F2&PID_B536&MI_00\6&36ffe11e&0&0000 requires further installation."
I'm pretty sure I need to go into the registry or something to enable it, but I haven't been able to get that to work. I can't find that USB option (webcam) in bios either.
Any help would be much appreciated.
(I've also tried microsoft usb fix and other similar programs with no luck)

Resolved/Solved: I feel like a total heel. So after bumping around in the wee hours of the moring, and ending up somewhere on the PC under security and clicking to disable my webcam, and spending hours and hours trying to figure out where that was and how to turn it back on (even trying to install again and edit the registry)... i found the answer. The hot key.... turned it back on. Never did I imagine that all the ways I tried wouldn't work, but the hot key would. Dear lord I need a drink.

Resolved/Solved: I feel like a total heel. How did you disable it? In device manager? Or did you uninstall it from there? Or did you disable it in the BIOS? Check the bios to make sure it's on there. You may want to do a BIOS update on the system, and check if there is a hotkey to disable the webcam. That's not likely as I don't think I ran across a system with a hotkey for that but who knows. Install the latest chipset and webcam drivers from MSI support. There may not be dedicated webcam drivers they may come as a package with something else, maybe media or something similar.
