The High School & Beyond Plan (HSBP) process is central to achieving our district mission and vision of graduating Every Student Future Ready.
- The HSBP provides students with the opportunity to explore their own skills and interests and discover potential careers and educational options. This personalized plan helps to connect career interests with courses and course with career pathways or college majors. The plan helps students identify the steps needed to reach postsecondary goals.
- Through the HSBP, students should be encouraged to take ownership over their high school experience and choose coursework and activities that are relevant to their goals.
- The HSBP also provides a means of tracking requirements for graduation from high school and entry into postsecondary programs and careers.
- Students start their plain in 7th or 8th grade and then continue to revise them throughout high school to accommodate changing interests or educational and career goals. In summary, the HSBP is designed to help students through a process of exploration, discovery, connection, and identification of interests, strengths, choices, options, goals, and future plans.
HSBP is both a Washington State and LWSD graduation requirement. We use the online program, Xello to assist us in meeting the goals of this graduation requirement.
